This week we mark Trans Awareness Week. Young Labour has long supported the rights of transgender and gender diverse New Zealanders, especially our rangatahi who suffer from severe bullying, harrassment and intimidation. We love our trans whānau, and this week and every week we want you to know that you are special, you are valuable, you are loved and you are not alone.

If you're a member of the trans and gender diverse community and you're looking for support in the wider community, our mates at RainbowYOUTH have a support team available to chat from 3 - 5 PM every weekday, drop in centres around the country, a great group of workers who can refer you to other services in your area and a huge set of resources for members of the LGBTQI+ community and allies to answer some really important questions. One of our favourites is this resource on accessing gender-affirming care through all 20 DHBs in Aotearoa. You can access a screen reader friendly version here

Not a member of the community of but want to know how to help? Be an ally! Our friends at InsideOUT, in collaboration with Lush, have created this amazing resource on how to be a great ally to the transgender and gender diverse community. Click here to download it, or access a screen reader friendly version here.
